As an Air Traffic Services Assistant and Senior MET Observer at Hawarden Airport, I have been providing essential support and guidance to air traffic controllers and pilots for over 10 years. I am an ATSA Training Instructor, and have trained and mentored multiple new hires in the operational procedures and standards of the air traffic services industry.Considerable IT knowledge coupled with my aviation interest, enabled me to easily write exercises and run the ATC simulator based at Hawarden. Having additionally taken the time to read and learn the local airspace and procedures, I am able to provide realistic scenarios to ATCOs during training.I have developed a strong expertise in aviation and flight safety, as well as aeronautical meteorological observing. Holding a Full MET observer certification from the UK MET office and having completed additional MET training with StormGeo, I have now become the MET liaison for Hawarden and the MET office. My meteorological role means that I am responsible for ensuring that all MET observers conduct their observations accurately and in a timely manner for the airport and surrounding area. I am passionate about delivering a safe, high-quality service, helping to maintain the efficiency of air traffic operations.
