Profile bio

About Andy Polshaw

I AM NOT INTERESTED IN ANY JOB ROLES.I am a Software Developer with particular specialism in .NET, Web and database technologies, and extensive experience in ASP.NET, VB.NET and C# up to v4.5. My career has largely focused on Web development, with significant work in HTML, JavaScript, CSS, XML, XSLT and XML Schema, and SQL Server 2000 / 2008, creating platforms across multiple industries and business sectors.Although an expert in technical development, I operate with a keen sense of the overall business / organisational benefit. My mantra is essentially, “is this worth it?” – will the work required for each functionality be recognised in a genuine return on investment for the client?Aligned to this is my approach to developing code. I know .NET inside out, which allows me to write lean code which rapidly gets to the heart of the relevant requirements. Effectively this is accomplished through an Agile approach, creating as little as possible to achieve the results required. In rationalising the volume of coding, a solution can be more rapidly developed, enhanced and operates faster with fewer bugs.I have a strong reputation for being able to communicate with stakeholders and users at all levels. My role is essentially to help them to achieve their aims, and therefore I’m not intimidated by senior management, and believe that good development can only be achieved by talking to all relevant parties in order to fully establish and realise the operational / commercial objectives through cutting-edge IT.I did operate as a freelance contractor, but now work for Siemens in Congleton as a Manufacturing Applications Developer. Specialties: Software Engineering / Development • Agile / Scrum • Business Analysis • Change Management • Database Administration • Software Design • Stakeholder Engagement • VisualStudio • VB.Net / C# • TDD • BDD • SQL Server • Active Directory • HTML / CSS / JavaScript • XML / XSLT / XML Scheme • Team Foundation Server (TFS)
