Ad Hoc HGV driving, operating mostly fridge trailers delivering to distribution centres

This role has involved managing all aspects of Transportation and onsite support for cars at varied locations for filming, promotion, exhibition and testing purposes across the UK and Europe, providing full logistical support to major car manufacturers including prepping, displaying, maintaining, demonstrating, dismantling, and rebuilding cars, and assisting with professional driving when required in varied locations both at home and abroad.The more involved jobs required transporting multiple cars to places like Ukraine, Czechia and Bulgaria, liaising with local production companies, pre-production tech recce’s, on site management of vehicle movements and problem solving. The role also involved looking after a fleet of press vehicles, storing, and maintaining them ready for use in exhibitions, demonstrations and by journalists for testing, comparison, and photographic purposes.

Having worked gaining experience of the company as initially a HGV driver 2001 - 2011 I was able to develop my knowledge and skills to enable me to identify how the business could operate much more efficiently and cohesively. I developed a business plan for my ideas and approached the Board to gain support and was then able to implement those ideas throughout the company. I created and expanded the Logistics Division of the business which required us to supply our Installation Team on construction sites throughout the UK. I was also instrumental in providing the Logistics capabilities of a fast expanding web shopping and distribution business.I played a key role in transforming a group of independent profit and loss companies into an integrated company who were able to meet their growing customer needs. I played a key part in this process which included consultation and communication with the workforce, launching the new brand and providing support for our employees during a period of substantial change. The areas that I managed during this time range from manufacturing through to stock control, logistics, health and safety and facilities management. This required me to develop my management skills and I have demonstrated that I can recruit, motivate, manage, and develop staff at all levels and capabilities. I also achieved FORS accreditation for the business for delivering in London and helped to maintain / retain our ISO 9001 accreditation.
