A seasoned 16 yr veteran of software development who has steadily advanced through the ranks at several companies and am currently the Director of Engineering and Product Development of a small engineering team, approximately 30% management, 70% software engineer.Experienced user of Windows/DOS based development. I have also developed under Linux and Solaris. Very strong debugger and problem solver. Experienced in serial protocols, both standard serial protocols, RS232/485 and communications protocols such as Frame Relay.Able to learn different technologies quickly. I can work independently, as well in small teams and I enjoy mentoring junior members. Used revision control systems in a team environment and can setup and maintain build systems. Have taken several products through the complete life cycle in both embedded development and Windows based development. Work well with other departments, marketing, QA etc in designing and improving products. Now have over a year of managing a small engineering department of all Engineering disciplines (hardware, software, materials etc), and have led small software teams for several years. At home I enjoy playing with PIC micros, ARM chips, and relevant tools. Specified hardware, ordered equipment/parts and supervised manufacture for small runs (< 10).8 years experience designing software in C/C++ and 80x86 assembler for an embedded DOS lighting control system, the Light Coordinator, for use in the entertainment industry, using BorlandC. Co-designed all hardware UI (button/slider position/operation) and software UI design and internal system protocols. This real time product required instant response to button presses so that the music beat could be manually followed.
