Profile bio

About Andy Rasmussen

At the heart of my mission is the drive to develop resilient communities and build consensus among diverse stakeholder groups to discover successful solutions. I excel at strategic thinking and planning, and in helping coalitions craft novel strategies to tackle complex problems. As a Project Manager at The Langdon Group, I leveraged my skills in public involvement and strategic visioning to facilitate the formation of Utah's first Watershed Councils on a collaborative model. I co-facilitated the strategic planning for Great Salt Lake Basin Integrated Plan, a plan for a basin encompassing millions of square miles and nearly 3 million people. I was the primary author for the strategic communications plan. My commitment is to bridge gaps and align interests to achieve shared goals, strengthen community ties, and advance sustainable development initiatives.Previously, as Utah Field Director for Public Policy at Trout Unlimited, I excelled in engaging diverse groups to champion new conservation policies at the state and federal levels. I helped to organize the first Sportsmen/women Caucus on Utah's Capitol Hill and facilitated the Caucus for three years, helping to shepherd several pieces of proactive legislation. This role honed my competencies in advocacy, government relations, coalition building, and strategic communications, which I then took to the federal sphere. Additionally, I created and executed campaign plans and coalition strategies to effectively articulate and advance federal policy initiatives such as the Emery County Public Lands, the Public Lands Initiative, and others. I also created and managed the sportsmen/women coalition for the Shared Stewardship Partnership between the State of Utah and the United States Forest Service. Managing coalitions and partnerships within the state, across the region, and in Washington has become my calling card.As a part-time Real Estate Agent with over a decade in the field, I surpass expectations in closing residential sales and investments across the Wasatch Front. I also provided pivotal government relations services for a new housing development in Cache Valley. Former roles as a local retail business owner and radio host allowed further opportunities to engage my varied interests and hone communication, administrative, and management skills.

Listed skills include Politics, Political Campaigns, Legislative Relations, Public Speaking, and 34 others.
