A broad role that began as the technical lead for a small team, and has expanded to include line management, strategy development, and resource prioritisation across 3 different workstreams.• Led the development and delivery of an implementation of AWS’ Landing Zone pattern, using open source tooling, leading a small team in extremely aggressive timescales to enable large scale consumption of controlled AWS services for global development teams.• Created, documented and owned a new Internet-facing architecture pattern and associated principles, using AWS native services, which continues to stand up to technical and security scrutiny over 3 years later.• Set up and led a new Agile product team to write and maintain the deployable code for the pattern, including recruiting a full-time Agile Team Lead and implementing Kanban. Onboarded the product to the Agile Software Development Lifecycle, the first infrastructure project to do so.• Applied and encouraged a mindset of “simplify and automate” to components that were previously only possible as “document and handover” such as server builds, firewall changes, application deployment and deployment testing, resulting in a fully automated build.• Define and maintain infrastructure builds and compliance policies using Cloudformation and Python.• Wrote Scripted and Declarative Jenkins pipelines for CI testing of Chef cookbooks, and CD automation for code progression through environments. Created self-building Jenkins masters using Openshift and Kubernetes.

Understood and triaged new demand for Internet-facing projects, creating impact assessments for estimating purposes, and allocated work to designers in the team.• Reviewed designs for quality, and remained accountable for each design throughout the life of the project.• Assisted service operations teams with live incidents, providing single point of contact for infrastructure and middleware expertise.• As the main contact for Mobile channels infrastructure, represented the infrastructure organisation during leadership meetings with business stakeholders• During this time, I also began to informally create a skeleton architecture and implementation of the incumbent Internet-facing pattern using AWS Cloudformation, which eventually led to the Cloud Engineer role.

Design and documentation of infrastructure solutions to meet business requirements whilst also meeting architecture standards and governance criteria.• End-of-year grade: A• Single point of contact for infrastructure on a number of high profile projects including regulatory and time-critical work, having taken on the Lead role when the previous Lead Designer left the team. This involved working closely with senior stakeholders to manage expectations.• Captured non-functional requirements to assist with hardware sizing.• Provided high level cost estimates for solutions.• Developed a strong understanding of Unix, Websphere and WebSEAL as well as strengthened my existing Windows, storage and database knowledge.
