I saw my first computer in 1971. It was programmed toplay tic-tac-toe and make rude remarks during the game. When I realizedthat someone had programmed it that way, I fell in love. I wanted to ownmy own computers and make them jump through hoops of my owndevising. My degree is in mathematics, not engineering, and I love workingwith computers. I feel that computer programming is one of the mostelegant and demanding forms of applied mathematics. A love of learning isalso necessary for working in this field. I read everything I can get my handson such as technical books, trade magazines, technical journals, andanything useful on the Internet. I have worked in a wide variety of positionswithin the technology world, and when I am able to find spare time, I enjoytrying out new tools, programming languages, and environments.
