Manages and guides the quality team in supporting the production group, making critical decisions on conformity of the products, prepares quality reports and non-conformance case studies, facilitates root cause analysis of quality issues to ensure continuous improvement of the products, and acts as the liaison between management, production and customer needs.

As a part of the New Product Development team, the Quality Engineer is responsible for verifying CNC program output on first-runs and engineering design changes, inspection of first articles and in-line inspection of new products, preparing First Article Inspection Reports, ensuring any additional material and test certificates are obtained prior to shipment.

Position is responsible for transition and coordination of required engineering activities to support, analyze and execute on awarded labour quotes for PCBA and system level assemblies for existing and potential customers. Position will work directly with SMTC’s process and test engineering groups, operations staff and management members in carrying out their responsibilities.• Quote Package Transfer – Responsible for the transition of main elements of awarded quotes into engineering execution schedule including manufacturing expectations, equipment requirements and labour hours (setup and run times)• Analyzes Quotes and the Bill Of Material to match for input into MAX database; using the database to create pricing range comparisons with the current market and previous company projects• Validates actual labour, yields and assumptions vs. actual data through cost rollup, cycle time and CIM; working with the engineers and program management to resolve issues• Responsible for predicting output data based on cycle time and resourcing; using the results to recommend quantity size adjustments and resource optimization• Imports the master production schedule and manages priorities based on engineering assignments and timelines to meet deadlines and production requirements• Working with the process and test engineers to setup and manage work centers (product testing, quality inspections, etc.) that supports the execution schedule• Responsible for the accuracy and completeness of the execution schedule and correcting discrepancies with the process engineers• Using Kinaxis database to manage capacity resource planning and create a contrast between cost and labour resulting into an ideal monthly target for production
