About Andy Savage
As well as the already mentioned coaching work below, I have had a long and varied history of coaching experience in the sports sector. For over 16 years I have been coaching football and basketball all over Merseyside at various levels. As a Basketball coach I have done a lot of work with the old City Hoops programme and more recently with Cheshire Jets and Mersey Tigers professional basketball clubs with their community programme, coaching on many camps and doing sessional work. From a football point of view I have worked with Everton in the Community, which is the community development department of Premier League football club Everton FC. Over a 2 year period I amassed over 250 voluntary hours. My duties at the club were as a football coach, predominantly disability coaching, where I worked with a very wide range of players of varying ages and abilities. I was a trusted member of the coaching staff and had my own sessions which I took regularly. I worked regularly on such projects as Disability School Sports, Alder Hey and numerous half term and summer camps. I have been the Head Coach of their Pan-Disability C Squad, leading them to the FA National Ability Counts finals at the David Beckham Academy in London, were we made it to the final but were narrowly beaten 1-0 in extra time. I also worked with the Men’s Deaf Squad who play in the National Deaf League and also in a mainstream local league, many of whom are full international players. I have also coached at the Everton Academy Development Centre, working with 6, 7 and 8 year olds who are classed as talented and gifted which was fantastic experience for me. It has been a very rewarding role and I have taken great pride in not only coaching for my boyhood club but also giving something back to the community through sport. My goal is to secure full time employment as a professional football coach.
Listed skills include Disability Sports Coach, Youth Football Coach, Multi Sports Coach, and Mural Artist.

Founder/Head Coach
CurrentAlt Park Soccer is a new venture I am working on in a local area in Liverpool UK called Croxteth. Croxteth is an inner city estate in Liverpool, which has suffered from high levels of anti-social behaviour, gang feuds, gun crime and high levels of unemployment and social deprevation. The purpose of Alt Park Soccer, is to give the youth of Croxteth a safe environment in which to play, learn and grow while playing football. All sessions are free of charge, and our target audience is boys and girls between the age on 6-16 years old. To provide the sessions free of charge requires good working relationships with local authorities who help fund our sessions. Our first full pilot scheme is now up and running which will see us run 10 weeks of sessions every Monday and Wednesday evening from 6pm-7.30pm through the summer and beyond. The interest has been amazing and it looks like the need for the project is massive. I will keep you posted.
Under 16 Football Coach
CurrentWorking alongside the head coach and reporting directly to the Head of Youth, I help in all coaching duties for the Under 16 development centre. This includes planning of weekly sessions, scouting & releasing of players and reporting to the chief scout. Conducting warm ups and helping the head coach with the main session and taking the session when the head coach is away on other duties. I have since been elevated to the position of head coach of the Under 15 squad for the coming season.
Sports Coach
CurrentI have recently taken on the role of Football Coach at Our Lady & St Swithins Catholic Primary School. The school has for many years had a great history of bringing through talented footballers of the calibre of Wayne Rooney (Man Utd , Everton & England), John Rooney (NY Red Bulls), Francis Jeffers (Motherwell, Arsenal & Everton) and Mick Lyons (Everton). But for the past 13 years they had no football structure in place. As my daughters both go to the school I was approached to get the football team back up and running, which I did as of September 2011. Since September I have took over the running of football teams for years 4,5 and 6, for both girls and boys. As well as overseeing the footballing side of things, I am also overseeing the administration. This includes arranging fixtures, attending Schools FA meetings and fundraising. As the schools budgets have been cut especially for sports provision, I have had to raise funds to buy essentially equipment for the children. Since September I have so far managed to raise essential funds through sponsorships and funding bids to obtain 2 new football strips from Liverpool City Council and The Premier League Players Foundation, new goals, new equipment (footballs, bibs, cones etc) and transportation to away games. I also take a number of PE lessons throughout the week as well ranging from nursery to Year 6.
Head Sports Coach/Project Co-Ordinator
CurrentI have been working as a sessional coach with The Fire Support Network since just before Summer 2009. The FSN is a charity set up by Merseyside Fire Service which has many different departments to it. One of those departments is sports coaching. As a coach for FSN I started working for them on a Summer multi-sports camp, where we were responsible for the delivery of sport to over 100 children in the Knowsley area. From there I have become a regular football coach in their Street Cage Soccer project. The project involves us going round areas that are troubled by anti-social behaviour. We errect a portable street football cage for 3 hours and deliver coached sessions to the children from these areas, free of charge. The project is very successful and statistics show that on the nights that we are in a particular area there is a huge reduction in anti-social behaviour. The project is going from strength to strength and is currently running around 15 sessions over 6 nights. This is quite a challenging role as it is dealing with a very hard to reach client group, who at times can test even the strongest of characters to the limit. But I have gained the respect and confidence of both my colleagues and the youngsters we coach through my knowledge of the game and all round positive attitude. Since starting in Summer 2009 I have been elevated to Head Coach and been given my own projects to oversee including Disability Multi-Sports Project and I am project co-ordinator of the Sporting Chance Project in which I mentor young offenders into football coaching, culminating in the achieving their FA Level 1 Coaching Certificate. And recently I have helped set up the FSN Futsal Academy, where we work with a large group of youngsters from the South end of Liverpool, the majority of whom are from ethnic minority groups. Ths is a massively successful session which attracts some 60+ participants every Friday evening.
Football Coach
I coached football sessions to school and community groups across Merseyside. I was a specialist disability coach, working with, among others, the Mens deaf squad and the Pan Disability C team. I also had a spell working with Everton's Academy Development Centre coaching on the 6,7 & 8 year old talanted and gifted programme.
