I assumed all responsibility for recruitment, training and coaching directly, performing these tasks plus the day to day running of the center until we were big enough… Show more I came in to this business 5 months after its conception with a very clear mandate from the investors, get the CC working correctly or there will be no more major investment right now!When I started we had around 15 Business Advisors and my initial task was to get them performing and then to efficiently grow the function. I assumed all responsibility for recruitment, training and coaching directly, performing these tasks plus the day to day running of the center until we were big enough to start developing Team Leaders.During my time here we managed to grow from 15 people in the Leeds office to over 75 across two sites with Leeds remaining the largest. Our performance, even through Covid, saw the results go from a 1.6 APD to a 3.2, the sit rate go from 65% to 85% and the conversion go from under 20% to 35% taking the gross CC deals, during this period, from 40 - 60 up to 860.So how did we do this? We implemented real world effective training combined with a high level of coaching, all delivered by people who had been on the front line themselves. We also introduced a high level of psychology to every element of what we did which started to give us a competitive advantage on the phones leading to more success, we also achieved under 7% churn from the people that had been with us for more than 3 months, giving us a very stable base and culture to build on which so many companies seem to struggle with. We did this by creating high levels of energy and fun combined with great reward systems where people felt valued and developed but,just as importantly, supported and understood. Companies talk about caring about their people but you have to care in a way that is noticeable and that benefits them not just the company. Take the people with you!! Show less

As customer numbers were split tightly over several departments making the amount of customers we had to hit target with tight I had to think outside the box a little, realisiing that probably the largest amount of available data we had was ex customers one of my initiatives was win back Wednesdays, this worked well and created a lot of data and opportunity for us. We literally grew this team by 100% overnight which as you can imagine caused operational issues that had to be solved but also a huge need for training Coaching and support which we worked with the wider business to ensure they received. When I came to BW it was a flourishing small business looking to help companies to save money on their energy costs as its primary objective, often making a few hundred to a few thousand pounds on its interactions.As I added new members to the business generation team and revamped their training and contact strategies I also noticed that we were not performing well enough in the most profitable part of our world, mainly because this business was much harder to track down and the people were harder to get in front of. Over the next few months as we worked on this, I started to get my team much better at finding and engaging with these people, this lead to a 75% increase in business over the first 5 months and to over a 300% increase over the following year, This meant that the deal value had moved from a few thousand pounds to, in some cases, hundreds of thousands of pounds, breathing new life and direction in to the business and helping us to leapfrog many similar sized and even slightly larger companies. During my time here I rewrote every piece or training material in the business creating plans that helped us to grow from 550 sales a month to over a thousand, the rest of my time would then be spent with the engine room of the business, the Call Center, working on the development of the team leaders and taking the bookers through an advanced course usually after they had been there for a couple of months and had skills that I could build on.
