I trained as an apprentice within the automotive industry and went through the ranks from apprentice to Service Manager. I completed all aspects within the motor trade including customer service, stock control, warranty, Foreman, working with the DFT and major motor manufacturers. I was involved in apprentice training and management of people. I completed 25 years.Joined the railway in 2004 and worked on 442 rolling stock for three years as an MB3. Then went to C4 heavy maintenance as a team leader to overhaul and work on 455,158,159 and 458 rolling stock, including testing units before being allowed back into service. The Rolling stock consisted of diesel moble units and DC and AC Electric mobile units. In 2013 was involved in planning C6 program on 455, before being asked to carry out competency on engineers. I gained my A1 assessors qualification and have completed and passed my Internal quality assurance qualification. Both are a City and Guilds qualification. I also was seconded to Production Manager and Heavy Maintenence Manager for short periods of time. I used microsoft office and initially developed a tracking sysytem for railway fitters competency when joining the competency team at Stagecoach South West Trains.
