Contracting on the same project I left in 2006. Created bespoke screens in the JeS system using VS2008 (ASP.NET, vb.net, C#), VS Team System, SQL Server, XPath and XSLT, and agile processes such as a Continuous Integration Build and scrums. During this time I also had the task of validating the XML Schemas with the councils using XML Spy 2008, either amending the Schemas or the system to match the published schemas.

MyMovieStream was a web based DVD rental company, sending discs by post, including creating sites for The Sun, Wilkinsons, Lidl, and its own brand, Outnow. Employed as a SQL Server database specialist (home based), and also tasked with developing and maintaining the ASP.NET website. Responsible for the database upgrade from the old ASP based system to ASP.NET and VB.NET. After the first round of redundancies in 2007 I was solely responsible for web site development. Undertook a site performance review, and coded ASP.NET & Stored Procedure changes which on some pages have produced an eightfold speed increase, and sped up nightly batch tasks from over 6 hours to 10 minutes. I also wrote a system for Customer Services which automatically created cases for incoming emails and queries, to enable easy handling of customer queries, and created a component to interact with the Verified By Visa service. Originally ASP.net 1.1 but upgraded to ASP.net 3.5. Skills used: Asp.net 3.5, Web Services, SQL server tuning and optimisation, asp.net routing, CSS, nUnit unit testing.

EPSRC is the UK Government's leading funding agency for research and training in engineering and the physical sciences. A development team member on the Joint electronic Submissions (JeS) system, built around ASP.NET, VB.NET, C#, XML, XML Web Services and SQL Server 2000.

A Bristol based government agency that procure all hardware and services for the British Armed Forces. Created an ASP.NET system for the International Relations Group to keep track of agreements between governments. Was solely in charge of the full lifecycle, planning the project, detailing and prioritising requirements with clients, creating the database design, and developing the system in VB.NET ASP.NET and SQL Server. System still used by embassy staff world wide.Working for the Information Solutions Group, conducted a study on the phasing out of all bespoke components and installed packages controlled by ISG, interviewing all related sections and determining interrelationships between required data. Developed an ASP.NET intranet site written in C#. Analysis and development of SQL Server and VB6 components interacting with multiple SQL Server and Oracle databases. Involved with MS Project VBA and Excel VBA development, creating impact assessments and evaluations of potential products. During this period I worked alternate weeks from home.

Heavily involved in design, specification and programming on a multi-million pound 4,500 user-base office tools integration program for the DPA (MoD). Successfully determined the implementation plans for the upgrade of clients and 11 SQL Server Servers (to NT4 & SQL6.5 through SQL7 to SQL 2000), to minimise downtime and client impact. Team leader of the installation, and Projects teams, writing requirements and Cost estimations, liaising between the client and 3rd party suppliers. Development included VB6 and SQL Server. VBA in MS Project, Word & Excel, integrating with the Artemis Views Project Planning tools (centralised project planning & cost accounting on SQL Server).

A consultancy based in Yeovil. Created a front end for a DOS EDI package. Created reports for a helicopter manufacturer using VB3 and Crystal Reports Pro, Access

A Computer & Insurance arms of Nat West. Using BS5750 QA procedures, developed a workflow based credit card fraud detection system, and Document Image Processing system for Lloyds of London syndicate. Also seconded to NatWest Insurance Services to create a VB / SQL Server enquiry system.
