Having worked in Financial Service for over 35 years, I enjoy the challenge of helping clients develop and implement risk financing strategies. A key objective of our team has been to modernise both the tools and approach for quantifying and visualising risk in order to help clients make better quality risk financing decisions. Our consulting group is a highly integrated global business, which continues to grow at a double-digit rate and is changing the way our clients think about risk.I have seen this business grow significantly over the last decade and I greatly enjoy the process of recruiting, coaching and mentoring the tremendous talent in our team. It has been rewarding to see the collaboration across the different professional disciplines and geographies that allow us to share information, innovate and build a successful work culture. Key to this was the foundation of our team’s Inclusion and Diversity Council and it is great to see it flourishing with new members and a program of events catering to different tastes.In my current role as Head of Risk & Analytics of GB, I lead the team of over 100 colleagues dedicated to improving client outcomes through the application of innovative techniques to automate the quantification of risk. I have experience of leading global teams of consultants and subject matter experts in many areas of risk management and risk financing, and these skills are increasing demand as we face increasing challenges from geo-political risks and climate change. This requires a new approach to framing our client proposition and the core skills of listening to our clients, and creating relevant and value-adding propositions will play a critical role in not just our team’s success, but also that of the insurance industry as a whole.
