The Chief Engineer is responsible for providing independent governance and assurance for all aspects of Siemens Rail Automation engineering and technical delivery onto the UK rail infrastructure.

• Leading the West Region for Siemens Rail Automation in the UK, accountable for all signalling projects delivered to Network Rail in Western & Wales.
• Providing the safety leadership for the portfolio, to ensure that we achieve Zero Harm across the 100 employees and up to 100 contract staff delivering the works.
• Accountable for the profit & loss account for over £50m of multidisciplinary works annually.
• Providing leadership, direction and motivation to the teams responsible for project delivery in the region.
• Setting the strategy for project delivery for the region and helping to shape the national strategy.
• Responsible for design & build contracts from tender, through negotiation, delivery, commissioning and handover.

• Developing the engineering leadership community and their teams in line with company values and behaviours; acting as mentor and promoting personal development.
• Maintaining the engineering processes to be applied in tendering and delivery functions in order to ensure smooth mobilisation of new projects.
• Engineering governance over the tendering and delivery functions to ensure engineering process is applied and is effective in order to control engineering risks.
• Working to ensure that the engineering community fully understand their responsibilities and accountabilities with regard to system safety within an increasingly complex technical environment.
• Build and maintain an operational and strategic resource plan in order that the correct level of engineering resource is available for the projected business order book.
• Maintain overall responsibility for identifying, implementing and driving forward efficiency changes.
