Initially starting as a contractor (which I had been for a number of years) I quickly found that I loved the culture and challenges at Domino’s Pizza as part of the infrastructure team. As a member of this team I have been involved in a number of projects seeing all through to (or on target to) successful completion. Third Line Update & Patch Deployment Analyst
In this role I was working in a Windows Patch and Deployment Specialist capacity for a government office. This requires me to become SC cleared. I was responsible for the deployment, monitoring and reporting of security patches and software across a government agency’s estate. This includes the testing of a new infrastructure being put in to take the place of the current legacy systems used to perform these tasks. The toolsets used include Microsoft SCCM 2012R2 and HP Radia along with WSUS to manage Microsoft Vista, Windows 7 & Windows 8 client operating systems (along with testing on Windows 10) and Windows Server 2003 / 2008 / 2012 operating systems and their respective component support. Along with these toolsets I have been required to make use of PowerShell and SQL to perform and automate tasks along with performing any troubleshooting and creating custom reports.

On this contract I was working on three large, high profile migration projects. Below is a brief explanation of these. Windows 7 Migration Working on optimising a Windows 7 task sequence based operating system deployment including software and hardware testing, driver management, build control and documentation amongst other tasks Office 2003 - 2010 MigrationChecking for and remediating compatibility issues between existing data, add-ins and dependant applications and the new openXML file format along with packaging and testing the Microsoft Office 2010 suite of programs ready for deployment. Internet Explorer 6 to Internet Explorer 8 MigrationTesting and remediating web applications, intranet/Internet sites and other IE dependant programs for compatibility issue when used with Internet Explorer 8. This involved a lot of group policy and group membership work in Active DirectoryAlongside these projects we also provided post project 3rd line support and update and patch management. The support side of things was dealing with any issues that came along, taking ownership of these and seeing them through until resolved. The patch and update management was done using both WSUS and Bigfix. This was an ongoing task with these being tested throughout the month ready for release.
Senior Desktop Support Analyst
Supported both a national and international user base. This involved remote support and travelling to both domestic and international offices. This covered all levels from basic user admin (password resets) to server configuration and installations.
It Consultant
This was a three week contract for the foreign commonwealth office at offices both out at the Turk and Caicos islands in the Caribbean and in London here in the UK. The work involved the complete upgrade of all office infrastructures and user equipment along with changing and improving the way user’s access and utilise resources. The main aim of the project was to improve reliability and performance at both sites and was a complete success. Some of the tasks involved in this project were:• SBS 2008, Terminal server setup.• Exchange 2007 mail database export/import.• Site to site VPN setup.• Dealing with third parties regarding internet connection to the office (organising SDSL fibre connection out at the TCI).• Internal wireless network setup.• Windows XP to Windows 7 migration.• Client VPN setup.• Re-cabling of the office (CAT 5e).
