I am responsible for the mechanical design function and technical documentation on optical display design for military fast jet and commercial fixed wing aircraft as well as the rotary wing sector. I Track & report risks, costs and schedule as part of a cross functional project team.I provide design solutions for mechanical, electromechanical and optical equipment/systems for the optical display system for the flight simulator.I set & manage the mechanical design schedule whilst meeting key milestones within budget requirements.I work within a project based multi- disciplined team liaising with a project manager, electronic/electrical engineers, software & system engineers, quality engineers, production and the installation team.Main duties include creating mechanical design documentation using 3D CAD writing test specifications and build procedures relating to the optical display system. This includes all engineering drawings, bills of materials, test & technical documentation, and schematic diagrams for the visual display system for the flight simulator. I also interface with the customer and vendors alongside the project manager at key milestones through the project until the system is installed and final commissioning and acceptance testing is completed to the customers satisfaction.Concept design and ROM costs for new design activities as well as pricing for projector system upgrades are also part of my engineering activity.
