Continue to manage the Ohio History Fund grant program and taking on new challenges to assist with public education and community outreach programs in the State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO). I use expertise and networks built during my time in the Local History Services to increase local historians and preservationists' engagement in programs such as Building Doctors, Ohio Open Doors, Ohio Historic Preservation Tax Credit information sessions, and State Historic Preservation Office Awards. Recognizing my experience, job title updated to reflect newly official role in training and mentoring staff who provide assistance to community history organizations. Remain responsible for management of Ohio History Fund and co-coordination of Ohio Historical Markers program.As the COVID-19 pandemic begin in spring 2020, asked by senior staff to develop an emergency grant program from scratch for Ohio's local historical organizations. Granted a total of $59,000 to 38 organizations to cover operational costs.

Lead the History Fund grant program. Made $694,000 in grants to 73 recipients in program’s first seven years. Reviewed 388 applications for projects valued at more than $4.7 million. Recruited more than 100 public history professionals to review proposals. Collaborate with recipients to administer grants. Oversee program’s budget. Collaborate with marketing department to promote contributions to the program, totaling $726,000 (November 2018). Led team that drafted program materials in 2012. Proficient in use of Foundant Technologies' Grant Lifecycle Management software Co-coordinate the Ohio Historical Markers program, which has erected over 380 markers across Ohio since 2010 and grossed more than $950,000 in receipts. Train and lead volunteers and interns who review marker texts. Collaborated with William G. Pomeroy Foundation of Syracuse, NY to create new marker grant program for Ohio. Initially intended for three counties, program expend to cover 18. Pomeroy grants have funded 30 markers, totaling more than $88,000 in receipts. Collaborated with Ohio Local History Alliance and local history leaders to plan and administer regional and annual meetings, workshops, and awards program for the Ohio Local History Alliance, a professional development organization for community historians. Fee-supported meetings and programs of the Alliance attract an average of 500 paying participants per year, who consistently rank the meetings as “excellent” and “superior.” Conducted 19 needs assessments and facilitated two strategic plans for local history organizations. Assessments inspired the adoption of better collections care and management techniques and revision of exhibits at local historical organizations.

Led a paid staff of six and a corps of 45 volunteers who welcomed an average of 13,600 visitors per year. Managed staff during period of institutional reorganization and budget reductions. Nominated one staff member for state-wide employee recognition award, which she won. More than 75% volunteer retention rate over six years. Administered the annual budgets of two museums, totaling $234,000 annually, and oversaw admissions and museum store operations.Supervised maintenance of five buildings and the National Historic Landmark riverboat W.P. Snyder Jr Helped to secure more than $205,000 in grants and pledges of support for museum programs and projects, including $173,000 to restore the towboat W.P. Snyder Jr, $5,500 for expansion of exhibit space at Ohio River Museum, and $15,900 for rehabilitation of Tell City riverboat’s pilothouse.Implemented an innovative community fundraising project which increased both school field trip attendance and school program revenue by 31%. Developed productive relationships with members of the local media, served as expert source for local history and museum activities, and was a frequent guest on regional radio and TV public affairs shows.Led efforts to prepare for and clean up after flood disasters at Ohio River Museum in September 2004 and January 2005, two of the highest floods in the Mid-Ohio River Valley in 50 years. Received an employee merit raise for outstanding job performance in 2007.

Recruited sponsors and exhibitors, helped raise more than $20,000 in support of the “Building Connections Conference: Ohio’s 2003 Conference on History, Preservation, and Revitalization.”Project director, Oral History Training Institute. Wrote $10,000 grant to fund program. Managed a faculty of five instructors and a program budget of $49,000. Institute trained a mix of approximately 125 community historians and humanities scholars. Chairperson, Field Services Alliance (FSA), 2001-2003. Led FSA's strategic planning efforts. Raised FSA's profile in its professional community by organizing and leading sessions at the annual meetings of the American Association for State and Local History. Coordinated four-five regional meetings annually for local historians for the Ohio Local History Alliance. Helped determine meeting content, finalized plans, led workshops, and managed logistical and financial details.Conducted 17 needs assessments for local historical societies and facilitated two strategic plans.Promoted to editor The Local Historian in 2000, newsletter of Ohio Local History Alliance.Provided advice on various aspects of historical society operations. Answered approximately 200 requests for information per year.Received an employee merit raise for outstanding job performance in 2000.

Implemented the administered award-winning "Suitcase Museum," "Speakers Bureau," and "Speakers Series" programs. Suitcase museum program incorporated the then new “Learner Outcomes” from the fourth, sixth, and ninth grade state proficiency tests. Researched, co-wrote, and helped install award-winning exhibit, "Chillicothe: Frontier Settlement to State Capital, 1796-1816." Administered junior member program (for children aged 6-12). Planned and conducted activities. Wrote junior members’ newsletter. Editor, the Recorder, the society’s award-winning quarterly newsletter. Trained and supervised a staff of three museum guides; led tours for school groups and adults.Promoted the society’s programs in local print and broadcast media.

Managed approximately 100 volunteers. Interpreted mid-nineteenth century educational practices to diverse audiences. Developed and led "Civil War-Era Schoolday" program for grades 4—7, in which hundreds of children participated over the program’s first 2 years.
