Started as a Radio Technician in 1986, went through the Post Office training scheme. Graduated with Telecommunications Technician Certificate, endorsed in Radio.Found my love for climbing, and became a Radio/Rigger.By now Technology had changed, with more of the Radio equipment going up on the towers.Now days almost all of the radio equipment is on the towers.Most of my work has involved building Cell Towers from the ground up, including foundation work. Flying in concrete, and towers to remote locations. Once the tower was in place, running feeders and rigging antennas, to installing and commissioning DMR links to feed these sites.Work has led me to other places in the world, 6 times to Scott Base Antarctica, The Islands, Western Samoa, and Tokalau's.Having worked under different companies over the years, but doing the same work, Telecom NZ, ConnecTel, and now Downer NZ. 37 years of experience.
