My degree is through the University of Strathclyde Engineering Academy which required me to achieve an A in the Graded Unit exam in the first sitting to progress to Year 2 at Strathclyde. I also received a qualification for Engineering Skills (metal work – turning and fitting)Presentation skills – Won IET Pitch Competition, March 2019.I had to deliver a two minute pitch about the most exciting upcoming engineering innovations. I talked about Gravity Industries Jet Suit and man’s fascination with flying. Flying and jet packs go back to Wright Brothers, James Bond in Thunderball to Tony Stark in Iron Man.Technical Skills – Proficient in AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, Solidworks, Matlab and Microsoft Office Packages.In first year we had to create a 2D version of Angry Birds using Matlab. We also had a group project that involved us designing and producing CAD drawings of a product to be taken to market. Working as part of the Fleet Engineering department looking after the Nuclear Submarines at Faslane Naval Base. I was responsible for a number of projects from automating the calibration process to building solutions to ensure PUWER and HAVS regulations were met and exceeded as well as being involved in arranging for the trial of a new HAVS monitoring solution. My work involved a lot of stakeholder management, liaising with several different departments within the base, gaining buy in and selling them on the vision of my project. I received excellent feedback for my work, describing it as "game changing". It is a shame I was not able to see the project in operation during my internship.
