Thank you to all my colleagues, clients and project partners over the years. After nine years in business with PlanDesign, I officially closed the office in June, 2018 to pursue other interests.

Context is a small, single-discipline landscape architecture studio based just outside Indianapolis, Indiana. I was incredibly fortunate to work with the folks at Context, first as an intern in 2002, then as a full-time employee from 2003 through early 2009. I joined the team back in Indiana before launching the Wisconsin office in 2006. Although the Wisconsin office has closed, Plandesign and Context remain strong industry partners. The following is a brief description of some of my responsibilities while with Context:● As an Associate, I helped lead Context and manage its resources by helping guide decisions on budget allocation, marketing and sales, staffing and the evolution of the firm’s general business plan.● As Director of the Wisconsin Office, I was responsible for managing its resources, developing local business and maintaining client relations.● As Marketing Team Leader, I developed the firm’s marketing plan and managed its marketing systems and promotions, including designing the firm’s corporate identity and all associated internet and print materials. ● Finally, I acted as Project Manager for all local Wisconsin projects while also supporting as project landscape architect many projects that originated from the firm’s Indiana office.

This small branding and marketing firm is currently located in Champaign, Illinois. Back in my day they were located down the street in Urbana. While I was part of the Roundtable team, I helped create websites and other media for such clients as the University of Illinois, Lockheed Martin and John Deere.

Yes, Anderson Worldwide was a sort of parent company to Arthur Anderson, of the Enron scandal notoriety, and Anderson Consulting. No, I had already left the firm before the big paper shredding party.Actually, I worked within a highly creative group of talented individuals called Anderson Telemedia, which was located at Anderson Worldwide's coporate training facility in St. Charles, Illinois. As part of the Telemedia group, I created graphics in support of business television, corporate events, video and multi-media (primarily interactive cd-roms and that brand new thing called the internet).The facility had once been a private girls' school. Anderson Worldwide bought the school and part of the neighboring golf course and created a training center where it would fly in all of its executives, from all over the world, for training. They kept at least one of the golf holes open and added a couple of full-size soccer fields, a dozen tennis courts, six sand volleyball courts, basketball courts, a disc golf course and climbing tower. As a lifetime soccer player, I was in heaven working on the campus and being able to jump in an international pick-up soccer game any day of the week after work. They also had a huge hill that one particularly snowy winter made a great lunchtime snowboarding getaway. I still have a video tape one daring freelance video producer shot after I talked him into letting me jump my snowboard over him. Fun times.Post-Enron update: After Arthur Anderson and eventually Anderson Consulting dissolved, a number of former Anderson folks took over the beautiful St. Charles campus and launched a new corporate training organization called the Q Center. Some of my former colleagues are now called Q Creative.
