I am a member of Business in the Community’s Northern Ireland Environmental Leadership Team.

Fibrus is a fibre broadband provider focussing on providing connectivity to rural towns and villages across Northern Ireland. As Lead Environmental and Senior Sustainability Specialist my role is to:Provide strategic insight, guidance and leadership, ensuring business compliance grows and is aligned at all times with local regulations and societal expectations, delivering a sustainable environmental performance.Partner with Investors (Infracapital) to ensure alignment with Fibrus Carbon reduction Strategies.Partner with key stakeholders & functional experts across the Business including Legal, Commercial, Marketing, Procurement and Finance to ensure the effective communication of Fibrus environmental and sustainability agendaCoach, mentor and manage the project implementation teams to deliver business sustainability goals and objectivesBuild cross functional relationships within the value stream to build trust and gain the privilege of challenging the current state. Strong understanding of change management to build momentum and excitement for operational changes across the business.Develop and Continuously Improve Fibrus ISO Integrated Management Systems, with a key focus on ISO 14001.Identify and highlight Product Stewardship risks and work with business subject matter experts to develop mitigation strategies across the supply chain.

They offer choice, and increaseindividuals’ opportunities in terms of business, education, shopping and leisure.Providing high quality public transport not only enables a region to thrive, it also helps to address thechallenge of congestion and climate change, creating healthier towns and cities.Translink's ‘Get on Board’ Strategy sets out a Vision for Translink as ‘Your first choice for travel’ by efficiently growing public transport in a way that connects people and communities, improves well-being through more active travel and enhances the economy and improves the environment to enable a thriving Northern Ireland.Translink are passionate about providing excellent public transport and do this in the ‘Translink SPIRIT’ which embraces principles around Safety, People, Innovation, Responsibility, Integrity and Teamwork.Translink recognises the environmental threat posed by climate change and poor air quality and in addition to encouraging more people to use public transport has a Climate Positive Strategy to reduce its total carbon emissions (TCO2e) from operations and buildings. Translink is at the forefront of efforts to reduce carbon emissions from transport, with investment in electric, hydrogen and eco-hybrid vehicles, focusing on a zero-emission bus fleet by 2040, using these technologies, and is also working with suppliers on a route map for a zero-emission train fleet. Building energy management systems are being used across the estate to also identify energy reduction measures from our buildings. All of these measures are being utilised to deliver the ambitions of the draft Programme for Government, the New Decade New Approach agreement and driving the wider climate change agenda to reduce UK greenhouse gas emissions to net zero by 2050.

I was responsible for the development and implemnentation of an environmental management system to ISO 14001, working in conjunction with other personnel to integrate procedures with those associated with safety and quality. Therefore, I was in daily contact with senior management, maintaining awareness and advising on various issues, reporting on progress and developing action plans / programmes, and regularly hosting and attending committee meetings. Carrying out monitoring and measurement relating to environmental objectives, targets and waste streams were also key duties. Projects focused on waste minimization resulted in significant financial savings with many initiatives transformed into sister plants workd wide.Having sucessfully attained ISO 14001 certification with AVX and seen past the company's next biennial assessment the need for a new challenge beckoned and thus led to my current emplyment with Translink.
