I enjoy solving and preventing problems for people. Sometimes it’s a problem that seems simpler to me because I’ve seen it numerous times, but it seems complicated to the person I’m helping because they’ve never seen it before.Other times it's complicated for everyone. I relish those situations.My practice is built on the principle of getting people over the finish line, with integrity and accountability.It helps that I've served as an investment banker, a corporate finance, real estate and M&A attorney, a private equity investor, corporate development executive for a Fortune 500 company and as CFO and general counsel for a successful start-up now over ten years old. There are many different seats at the transactional table, and I have sat in most of them.Often, I’ve grappled with the exact problem a client is asking about because I’ve also started a business, helped raise its capital, and run it. It’s like that Farmers Insurance commercial, “We know a thing or two, because we’ve seen a thing or two.” I love to serve as a trusted advisor who can spot issues, provide clear and thoughtful advice, and execute a solution.In recent years, I have expanded my practice to include assisting clients in alternative energy transactions. I help developers, investors, and landowners with various aspects of solar, wind and hydroelectric projects. I have enjoyed developing an expertise in these areas, as they bring together a number of skills I already use, including traditional acquisition work and real estate. Plus, I truly believe in the clean energy economy and the need to transition away from our dependence on fossil fuels.I also get a great deal of satisfaction from my work volunteering with and chairing numerous community boards and civic organizations. This has been as valuable and as fulfilling to me as any of my career endeavors. I think this brings a unique perspective to my practice, as these organizations face very different challenges than the clients I work with at GreeneHurlocker.
