As a Preacher's son, for the first decade of my life, I watched my dad build churches. Many of my earliest memories were about church socials, Easter Sundays, visiting new/potential members while watching my dad and mom work long hours to breathe life into new organizations. These were wonderful memories that ended too soon as he passed away when I was 9.The next decade taught me other lessons. Watching my mom learn to balance her own checkbook, when the social security check would come in the mail and how to rebuild a family that had lost its leader without a solid financial base to provide a future. I watched my mom start a career in real estate and struggle for most of her life with the grief and loss of her partner and the stress of providing for a young family. Much of my teens were spent working 2-3 jobs to help out at home and figuring out how to pay for my college and graduate school. When it came time to decide on a career path, (against mom's wishes) I did not choose the clergy but took a position as a financial advisor. As I said to my mom at the time - My dad was great at "saving souls" but I guess I was more interested in making sure their families and businesses were adequately planned for and safe.Although I began as an advisor, the "apple didn't fall far from the tree". Within my first two years I was busy recruiting advisors and helping them start/grow their practices. This passion has not changed in the 25+ years I've been in distribution leadership.I have worked nationally as a VP in charge of different Regions of the country as well as a National Sales Trainer. In addition, I have been a top 20 Distribution Manager in two of the largest companies in the industry, personally recruiting and developing 200+ full-time advisors.Strategic Financial Concepts represents the 6th "church" I've had the honor to work with! Our firm offers our advisors an untapped opportunity for growth while still providing the stability and experience to support their practice.I am a very lucky man! I found the love of my life, Melissa. We are blessed to have our blended family of three kids: Katelyn, Alana and Drew. Away from our careers, Melissa and I enjoy our morning coffee time, weekend backyard pool parties and BBQs, listening to great music (especially Hall & Oates!), attending concerts and movies, cheering on my Virginia Tech Hokies Football and Basketball teams, occasional fishing trips, attending school events and just plain "doin nothin" together! Please feel free to contact me at abunce@SFCinc.net or to call at (405) 509-0598.
