My main role is to travel around Birmingham & Wolverhampton areas of the Midlands Surveying/capturing the layout and design of all HV and LV cables and Duct on behalf of Western Power Distribution (Now National Grid). I also have experience of using GPS equipment such as Topcon Tesla, GS 16 & 18 and Leica Zeno 20 (Now FLX 100). I am responsible for managing my own time efficiently by planning my site visits geographically correct so not to waste time and fuel. I also always communicate with site agents and gangs on the progress of jobs so that I don’t attend too early. I also always liaise with the mapping department and Technicians at Western Power to discuss any issues in relation to submitted Aslaids. Also, part of my role is to help the commercial side of the business with the monetary obligations with completed projects, chasing the mapping department at WPD to ensure they have closed any submitted jobs off so that payment can be made. We have created a system traceable for all jobs completed including a weekly receipt sent to WPD of all projects submitted complete or currently in progress.Due to my previous Management experience on the same contract I am often asked for advice on projects. My responsibilities were managing resources to ensure optimum timing of asset recording, to undertake audits to confirm consistent quality recording as per standard techniques, own and manage the process of timely and accurate data transfer and storage between systems, and own and manage the Technicians processes to ensure the K.P.I targets are achieved and maintained.We produced aslaids using tapes/measuring wheels and laser tapes for Western Power, by way of standard methods or by using Triangulation or Chain Lines. We also used GPS equipment in areas where needed to capture the accuracy of the cable lay. The team also attended RFQ/Major Project work which is tendered for outside of the dig and lay contract. These projects can range from 2km to 12km and are captured mainly by the use of GPS.Other skills are good planning and Time management, responsible for WPD's software system (EMU) for all Kier users in the Utility services. I am also involved in recovering cash relating to the As-laid drawings submitted to WPD.
