Andy joined EM Services in 2016 as General Manager of the Business Development & Marketing Department. He is tasked to look into developing various aspects of the company’s business portfolio and to open up new markets for business expansion.He started his career as a Civil & Structural Engineer with the Housing and Development Board (HDB). His main area of experience then was in structural design of public housing and upgrading projects. He also played a part in the development of prefabrication technology now widely employed to build HDB estates.The second stage of his career was with Surbana Consultants Pte Ltd as a Senior Project Manager overseeing Main Upgrading and Lift Upgrading projects for public housing projects. In 2006, he embraced the sustainability in the built environment movement when he joined United Group Ltd (UGL) to promote skyrise greenery. During his two years with UGL, he promoted and was responsible for the installation of more than 20,000 sqm of roof gardens in public housing. He was later headhunted to join Elmich Pte Ltd, a leader in urban greenery and waterproofing, to spearhead their expansion into markets overseas. He helped the company and its range of products to gain a firm foothold into more than 30 countries worldwide.At EM Services, he is instrumental in the aggressive development and exploration of drone technology and capability for performing façade and roof inspections using AI as part of ongoing transformation efforts to encourage the use of available technologies to increase productivity and efficiency.In 2020, he was invited by the Building Control Authority to be a member of a working committee in the development of a standard for Building Façade Inspection using unmanned aircraft systems (Technical Reference 78 (TR78)), for which there was then no guideline in Singapore for building façade inspectors to use UAS as a means to carry out building façade inspections. TR78 : Part 1 (TR 78 : 2020) – Building façade inspection using unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) was published by Enterprise Singapore in Dec 2020 and TR78 : Part 2 (TR 78-2:2021) - Specification for quality management and application of artificial intelligence (AI) was publish in Dec 2021.Andy graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Engineering (Civil) with Nanyang Technological University in 1995 and obtained a Post Graduate Diploma in Financial Management with ACCA. He is married with 3 children.
