Online Partners recognized that the evolution of the Internet reaching millions of individuals was transformative in communication. Started in 1993, before the World Wide Web became available, their first offering used dial-up modems to connect their network. It's offerings, Gay.Net, Gay.com and OnQ (on AOL) brought millions of individuals together on a monthly basis in a secure and private setting. Cramer retired as Chairman and CEO in 1999. For 20 years, Headlines operated a chain of retail stores in the San Francisco Bay Area, Albuquerque, Santa Fe, and Seattle. Always a leader, Headlines was known for value, service, and unusual merchandise offerings. The company was famous for producing a stimulating party-like environment within the retail stores. The outlets ranged from 2,500 to 25,000 square feet and provided a wide variety of products and services in a novel, artistic and provocative way. Promotions made the stores famous. For example, a band would play on stage on Saturday while customers shopped. Other times, the stores were filled with customers for a chance to win two first-class tickets anywhere in the world or a year of free rent with a housekeeper one day a week. Cramer coined the term "Retail Entertainment" in 1981, which Sony used worldwide at a later date.
