Andy is the Chief Engineer at Ateliers Jean Nouvel in Paris after spending a career designing and building landmark buildings around the world. It has been an exciting journey to date including the privilege of working with Master Craftsmen Santiago Calatrava and Jean Nouvel.Along that journey he had been Director of Design at Hyder and Aurecon and operated for those firms across the globe.Andy has been responsible for many of the Super Tall projects undertaken in the Middle East and around the world. These include the beautiful 355m tall Emirates Towers in Dubai, the 80 level Sun and Sky Towers in Abu Dhabi and the recently completed Central Bank Tower in Kuwait. Other works include the 80 level CMA HQ Tower in Riyadh, the 80 level D1 on Dubai Creek and The Metropol in Istanbul, which will be the tallest building in Europe when completed. Andy has held complete design responsibility for the recently completed Burj Khalifa, which is the current tallest building in the world, and has recently undertaken detailed design of J220, which will be the tallest building in China.An Australian Engineer by training and passion and holds a PhD in Engineering and an Adjunct Chair in Architecture at the University of Sydney, and serves on several International Code Committees. He received the RW Chapman medal and Engineering Excellence Award from the Institution of Engineers for his work.The guiding principles of Andy’s designs are to consider the design of Super Tall buildings in a holistic way, and to then weave the best construction system into the fabric of the design. The wider team is also undertaking research in material science, construction methods and the effects of atmospheric physics and climate change as required for the design of the next generation of projects over 1000 metres tall being developed for Clients in the Middle East and China.
