Over the past 30+ years I have worked in a variety of counselling, mentoring, and life skills developer roles. My expertise has allowed me to work as a spiritual counsellor, for a large Christian Television program, with those with physical and intellectual disabilities, youth and those with complex needs. I have supported those with various degrees of Autism, as well as those with Acquired Brain Injuries.I have always been an advocate for those who see themselves disadvantaged, vulnerable or excluded. It not only appears in my professional practise, but carries over to my personal life, as I assist the 519 Community Collective, an organization that helps those either experiencing, or at-risk of extreme homelessness.I have been fortunate to hold several Leadership roles, Team Leader, and have been recognized for "Excellence in Customer Service" over 3 consecutive years. As a Youth Worker, I was able to support a young man in resume writing, creating a cover letter, job searching, and interviewing. He was able to secure a job with Canadian Tire, and is investigating post-secondary education. I was able to see, first hand, how hard work, mentoring, and behavioural support can change the life of an angry young gentleman, into a successful person with a vibrant future.I have found that most people are looking for two main things: Hope and Purpose. My personal philosophy, or mission statement, is to "be a signpost, along the pathway of Life, that simply points someone in the right direction." Everyone deserves the very best life possible to them. If I can help, in even a small way, then I will have lived a very successful life myself.
