With a focus on excellence in teaching, research and outreach, the Center for Real Estate seeks to provide leadership to the real estate industry in many ways, from forward-thinking events, unparalleled student experiences, successful career placements with employer-partners, and ongoing support and career development for our alumni. Cardinal Group Management is a fast-growing multifamily property management firm with more than 9,000 beds and 3,000 units under management as of Q1 2015. At CGM, Andy's responsibilities, achievements and major contributions included the following:• Responsible for the operations of a portfolio of apartment properties across the Western U.S. with a combined value of more than $400 million; deals were a combination of both third party-managed assets and owned assets• Built out annual operating budgets for more than 10 properties in 2015, including detailed revenue and expense projections on a line-by-line basis• Created strategic annual business plans for each asset including supply and demand analysis, SWOT analysis, market competition analysis, and key operations goals for the year ahead• Managed a team of more than 10 direct reports & 80 indirect reports, overseeing daily operations at each property and providing leadership and oversight for hiring, team member performance, and team growth opportunities• Assisted acquisitions team with on-boarding and management of a 554-unit portfolio in Glendale, Colorado, worth more than $70 million. This was one of the largest apartment acquisitions of the first half of 2015 across the entire metro Denver area

The Center for Real Estate in the College of Business Administration at Marquette University is focused on delivering world-class student experiences, research, and industry outreach. The Associate Director is responsible for coordinating activities between donors, alumni, students, employers and other university offices, as well as with other external stakeholders in the community. While at MU Andy's contributions included:• Achieved a #9 ranking nationally for undergraduate real estate programs by U.S. News & World Report• Assisted and subsequently led all operations for the Center for Real Estate after Director became interim dean of the College of Business Administration in August 2012• Increased revenue by 40% over 3.5 years by identifying six new revenue sources; developed strategic, multi-dimensional plans aimed at maximizing each source, and managed projects to achieve key metrics• Project management and revenue source identification included oversight and execution of annual Marquette real estate conference, generating $100,000+ in sponsorships, drawing national speakers and over 600 attendees• Analyzed and managed $130,000 budget, reducing costs by 6% over 3.5 years• Developed relationships and a fundraising strategy, resulting in more than quadrupling the young alumni giving rate from <5% to 21% annually (vs. the university-wide average giving rate for young alumni of 6%)• Leveraged work with CRE Director and Board to expand vision, strategy, and industry outreach, resulting in creation of a three-year strategic plan aimed at raising more than $1 million.• Networked and built relationships with senior-level business leaders in two major cities, Milwaukee and Chicago, resulting in 100% placement of all real estate students in full time careers from 2012-2014, and more than 25 corporate donations to the program• Independently managed projects and cross-functional teams, leading to 10 new annual events and dozens of successful projects

Assisted the head coach with running practices, setting strategy and giving personalized attention to each player. Worked specifically with goalies, and assisted the JV and Freshmen team coaches with personalized, position-specific coaching for their goalies as well. UGL Equis (acquired by Cushman & Wakefield) was a mid-market real estate consulting and advisory firm focused specifically on tenant representation. Andy's responsibilities, achievements and major contributions included the following:• Cold-called and used traditional and social networking technology to help win $600,000+ in gross fees in the worst recession in decades• Won portfolio management for an industrial services client, Restaurant Technologies, Inc. (RTI) and oversaw leasing for 500,000 s.f. portfolio with 38 U.S. locations, including management of national projects and a HQ relocation. This resulted in $300,000+ in gross fees during this time period• Assisted a tech company, Lighthouse1, with a strategic relocation to a new building, including a more efficient space design and ultimately a 10% annual lease obligation cost reductionUGL Equis was a subsidiary of UGL Limited out of Australia. After acquiring DTZ in 2011 the property services company went through a re-branding to DTZ in 2012. Then in early 2015 DTZ merged with Cassidy Turley, a leading brokerage firm nationally, before merging again with Cushman & Wakefield in May 2015. The Minneapolis market leader for UGL Equis was Mark Evenson, who has since transitioned his team to Avison Young in the Twin Cities market.
