I’m a co-founder of Villa Lagoon Tile, a company that specializes in handcrafted tiles. Fifteen years ago, I stumbled upon an old house with a stunning floor made of patterned cement tiles. Despite being nearly 100 years old, the tiles were still in excellent condition. I was amazed and curious about their origin, and soon discovered that they were all handcrafted using traditional methods that have been passed down for generations. As I spoke with the artisans who spent years making these beautiful tiles, I was struck by their passion and love for their craft. They spoke with pride about the intricate process of creating each tile by hand, and their eyes lit up as they described the joy of seeing their finished products come to life. This experience inspired me to become involved with Villa Lagoon Tile, a company that was founded 20 years ago by designer Lundy Wilder with a vision for preserving and promoting the art of handmade cement tiles, Morocco Zellige... As a co-founder and CEO, I helped to scale up the business and expand our operations. Today, our studio is based in Vietnam, where our team of over 300 artisans continues the tradition of handcrafting each tile with care and attention to detail. Our design, sales, and marketing operations are based in the United States, where we collaborate with top designers to bring the beauty and charm of these tiles to luxury and innovative projects across the country. At Villa Lagoon Tile, we are proud to carry on the legacy of our founder and continue to create products that will be cherished for generations to come.
