As a dedicated advocate for EDI, I have joined the board of a pioneering non-governmental organization (NGO) in South Africa that is actively working to combat gender-based violence using AI. From the outset, my focus has been on ensuring the highest standards of governance, as well as maximizing the NGO's potential for securing grant funding and corporate support.Drawing on my extensive experience in commercial and non-profit management, I have spearheaded successful grant applications and secured corporate funding for the NGO. Additionally, I have overseen the creation of a UK charity that serves as a vital platform for fundraising and event planning. Thanks to my expertise and network, we have been able to secure grants from a range of prestigious sources.Throughout my involvement with this important NGO, I have remained dedicated to advancing the principles of equality, diversity, and inclusion. I am committed to fostering staff training and development in this area, and to championing truly sustainable business practices that create a circular economy and benefit communities across the global south and beyond.

I was asked to work with large multinational NGO African Parks to strategically review sustainable commercial opportunities in the DR Congo. Formulated a strategic plan to enable the local community to directly benefit and to add diversity in income streams to enable all fundraising revenues to be targeted towards core conservation.

Stepped up to the CEO role & chaired the board of this now multinational business. With multiple sites across Southern Africa alongside existing operations we successfully opened a new B2B and B2C sustainable tour sales division and an agency logistics handling business. This operated and contract handled tour sales and logistics for major tour operators and airlines including KLM in Southern Africa. With a focus on supporting local community development and conservation of the environment we backed various NGO’s including a homelessness project, Africas only shelter for LGBT+ people, conservation charities and education organisations. Staff were encouraged to be involved with community projects and allowed time off from work to do so. Founded a sustainable tourism operation in the UK using environment & community minded business practices. This development of luxury accommodation units became an instant success & was featured by the BBC in its first year of operation. We worked with the Woodland Trust and planted over 2000 trees across the site & opened over 10 acres of land for people in the local community to useTo enable local communities to reach their potential we successfully backed & mentored numerous community start up businesses. These ranged from Zambia’s first cloud kitchen to a commercial fuel distribution business. I have always believed that entrepreneurs have great ideas and often just need guidance & access to funds to start businesses & change their lives for the better. Working with local college we designed & implemented an industry leading staff training program to embed EDI values & empower & enable the team. This transformed in to a non profit which now grants scholarships to enable people to have access to higher education & professional training.After years of growth & success I was proud to transition the business to be owned by its staff team in each location. I continue to play an advisory role to the respective boards.

Tasked to maintain cashflow with optimal funding packages. Point of liaison with the banks and finance houses and chaired monthly reviews with the banks to negotiate ongoing borrowing and rates.
