• Planned and advanced a communications strategy to position the congressman’s robust legislative agenda positively among various audiences, through placement of press releases and opinion articles, establishment of broad constituent communications programs, and acquisition and coordination of media appearances.• Initiated new outreach efforts including TeleTown Hall meetings, eNewsletters, and Web site multimedia applications.• Developed and maintained positive working relationships with reporters for local and national media outlets as the congressman’s chief spokesperson.• Trained other staff members to articulate the congressman’s official message on various issues.

• Anchored News Channel 18 This Morning, 5 – 7 AM Monday – Friday.• Gathered and reported news stories for News Channel 18 at 5, 6, and 11.• Developed and nurtured relationships with community leaders in government, academia, and business.• Executed special projects for ratings-critical time slots, including scheduling, writing, editing, and hosting a 30-minute documentary on the Indiana ethanol industry.• Performed various public relations functions for the station, including guest/promotional appearances at regional events.
