The American International Schoool Dhaka (AISD) recently completed a full-scope, multi-million dollar campus modernization project. As Senior Design Coordinator, I was responsible for the development of design and interior architectural drawings for construction in addition to coordination and drawing review for all consultants including structural, architects, MEP, kitchen and fire safety. I performed regular site inspections and provided on-going direction to contractors and trades.This position involved working closely with the Project Manager on the development of project schedules and budgets and the review of tender documents, BOQ’s and specifications. Responsibilities included FF & E Specification and coordination with the Procurement Manager regarding sourcing, acquisition, scheduling and import of construction materials, equipment and furnishings.I have working knowledge of the International Building Code and the Bangladesh National Building Code.

Development of a relocation plan, design, and construction drawings for the newly acquired club premises in Gulshan 2. This contract position involved working with the board and management to develop and renovate the buildings at the new location as per the specification and requirements of the Nordic Club. I was responsible for commercial kitchen and bar layouts, re-purposing of outbuildings, upgrades and life safety improvements to a conference centre, guest rooms and bathroom layouts and millwork design. I prepared tender documents, attended contractor meetings and performed regular site-inspections.

Working from my studio housed in an old mill building in the beautiful escarpment town of Greensville, Ontario, I spent several rewarding years creating unique, home and cottage furnishings and lighting. I have a special love for reclaimed wood and objects with history from old homes, barns and antique stores, all of which found their way into my works of art. Aged wood has such a beautiful patina, rich aroma and intriguing traits like intricate bore holes and dark hued rust spots where a hand forged nail once stood. Each rough-hewn plank, scuffed floor board, door with worn paint, or old nail contributed uniquely when re-fashioned into something new, whether it be a sideboard, mirror, buffet, bench, lamp or coffee table.The design and crafting of my furniture was a solitary and meditative pursuit on most days. However; several times a year I would sell my works at art shows around the province and on two especially exciting weekends a year, my studio, as part of the Beyond the Valley Studio Tour (www.beyondthevalley.ca/) along with a bunch other great friends and artists would be open for guests to visit. This was always an exciting time, welcoming people into my studio to see how I worked and what I had created.I still love designing furniture and working with wood and will always have fond memories of the time I spent in Greensville, being able to do this each day.
