I monitor the operation of File Servers and Web Servers using Microsoft Windows 2003 and Internet Information Services version 6.0 at my home office. I am running several websites, locally, for various business and non-profit groups, and am responsible for the setup, design, maintenance, and backup of those sites. Most of my current outside work involves installing and setting up small business and home networks. This would include the installation and configuration of switches and routers for both wired and wireless networks, and the preparation of any hardware for inclusion. I see many hardware and software issues in the varied environments in which I currently work. I have had several multi-month contracts which included; being the in-house IT person for a large real estate office in the area, setting up VOIP phones in brokerage offices and swapping out servers and switches in large chain hardware stores. During this time period, I also was working on a contract basis with The Computer Merchant, to setup routers, switches, UPSs and IP phones at various Merrill Lynch offices in SW Florida. I traveled within Maryland, Washington, D.C and Virginia troubleshooting various computer problems. I fixed Novell and Windows servers, GroupWise and Microsoft Exchange software/hardware issues with networks and client workstations. I also installed networks, both hardware and software at various sites, and solved internet connectivity issues.
