-Wrote embedded C# for an in car console to assist taxi drivers in receiving jobs and navigating to/from the pickup/destination.-Created a "control panel" type application to replace the companies ageing c++ "win-dos" based application.-Maintained the company's legacy dispatcher software in c++.

Specified, designed and wrote software for the collection of digital x-ray images. The software ran as a separate multi-threaded component within a multi-tasking environment (Win32, Visual C/C++,MFC) with the product name syngo. An OOA/D approach was taken with Use Cases and UML class and sequence diagram design using Rational Rose. One of a team of eight software engineers. Software management handled in ClearCase and ClearQuest. Image collection was from a scanner over a TCP/IP POP3 server connection. Wrote specification for database storage of x-ray images using the medical format DICOM. Also performed some enhancement of x-ray images for exhibition purposes.

1) Designed and wrote software to collect data from a rapid spectral detector and display the raw data as it was collected. The software ran on a PC in a multi-tasking environment (Microsoft C & Assembly). Also made improvements to the in-house real-time kernel used to multi-task this software (Intel 8086 Assembly).2) Wrote data acquisition part of a liquid chromatography analytical package. This provided full control of a chromatography instrument system from a PC whilst simultaneously collecting and displaying data from one or more analytical instruments via an RS232 link and an A/D converter. The software ran on a PC in a multi-tasking environment (Microsoft C & Intel 8086 Assembly).3) This involved bug fixing in a PC based data evaluation package, changing it to work at a greater screen resolution and adding new features such a topogram display (GKS Graphics, Pascal).4) Modified a package that sent instructions to a chemical instrument for the small scale synthesis of DNA. The program monitored the synthesis and displayed the results (Win 3.1, Microsoft C, C-SCAPE).5) Wrote software to control an instrument that automated the production of many small chains of DNA. Instrument control was achieved from a PC (Win32, Visual C). Wrote the software specification for this project. One of a team of four software engineers.6) The large-scale synthesis of DNA. Wrote software to estimate and measure chemical usage (Win32, Visual C).7) Wrote software for Pharmacia Diagnostics to evaluate and report data collected from a laser densitometer and to acquire data from a scanner for allergy testing (Win32, Visual C). RS232 communications.

A member of a team of six, designed and wrote embedded software to control Perkin-Elmer's 8300 gas chromatograph (Pascal and Motorola 68000 assembly on ExorMacs). Added optional packages such as driving an autosampler, external communications and printer handling.
