Designed and managed and Nginx, Haproxy Memcache, Apache, PHP, and mySQL environment. Implemented a fully cloud based system (Rackspace) and a CentOS security system, utilizing IP tables and Openvpn. Designed and built a universal database system that was relationship friendly while still being flexible and scalable. Handled very large data sets totaling 100 million records within a database environment scalable to 1 billion records. Built multi-threaded parser processes to speed the import of new/updated district and address data into the database. Designed and deployed a network capable of handling peak +500k visitors a day with minimal system resources – including white-label support for third party’s such as Yahoo! and NBC Local Media. Designed technical solutions to support the company’s search engine optimization and search marketing efforts. Created a dynamic URL system with custom headers within an extensive caching system. Created a search infrastructure utilizing fuzzy logic and soundex tools for collections including, street addresses, candidate names, organization names, candidate offices and organizational endorsements. As Vice President of Technology for Big Jump Media was directly responsible for designing and building virtually all aspects of the company's social media and streaming video services. Scalability efforts were instrumental in the company's site being named by comScore as the fastest growing in the US in August 2007, with traffic successfully scaling by +900% to almost 2 million unique visitors in a single month. Built video upload, encoding and distribution infrastructure; administration tools for management of user generated content, including approval queues and language/profanity filters; application and network security infrastructure; network and application monitoring; database schema and architecture; back up and redundancy tools; Rackspace cloud and Akamai and Limelight CDN integration. Lead data center migration efforts, created extensive content caching infrastructure. Instrumental in recruiting and expanding technical staff, ultimately responsible for 17 developers. Created and managed source control and code review processes for the team. Managed and monitored development, staging and production environments.
