London based composer with a background in advertising as a copywriter and creative director. Composition credits include TV and cinema ads for Eve Mattresses and Denner, online ads and short films for Karma Beach Club, AXA UK and Fidelity Pensions, and ambient vinyl soundtracks for Millennium Bridge House. I compose in a wide range of styles and especially enjoy ambient orchestral crossover, using found sounds and instruments from different cultures.For many years I wrote ads during the day and played in bands, and as a solo artist, at night. Then, in 2011, while working in Beijing as a creative director, I got to play one of my compositions to Howie B. Howie loved it, and encouraged me to start writing and producing more seriously.Under the name my Mandarin teacher had given me, An Di Yi (pronounced Andy E), I released two albums of ambient, filmic, trip-hoppy music, inspired by sounds recorded on my travels, charting my experiences in a kind of musical diary. An Di Yi built a considerable SoundCloud following with almost half a million plays and has been featured by BBC Introducing on Tom Robinson’s show. After leaving my full time ad agency job, I continued to freelance as a writer and creative director whilst working on projects bridging the worlds of music and advertising, first collaborating as writer and music editor with Beijing punk band Reflector and Italian producer Lorenzo Dal Ri on films for Stuart Weitzman.
