Responsible for shaping the Youth Strategy, describing the routes for young people to engage with the organisation through a spectrum of voluntary and paid roles. Working collaboratively with volunteering and directorate teams you will design accessible age-appropriate pathways to enable young people to give their time and talents to support our mission in ways that are innovative, safe, empowering and resonate with young people’s needs and wants. You will provide advice, guidance and assurance to teams across the British Red Cross to create the enabling environments for young people to thrive as partners in delivering our corporate strategy. You will be responsible for ensuring youth engagement policies are appropriate, proportionate and compliant to legislation. You’ll design and review quality standards for the organisation to gain assurance across youth engagement activity. You’ll create the conditions for staff to flourish by empowering and enabling them to deliver and be part of a wider team that is continually learning, reflecting and seeking to be ‘best in class’ as designers and guardians of our youth engagement ambition and experience.

Identify how the organisation will support young people through their inclusion in the workforce plan, encouraging the provision of opportunities, the effective application of policies and processes toensure that young people are “Safe, Heard and Developed” in all parts of UK Ops. The role will advise managers and other staff working with young people how to create the best opportunity for them to be effective in their roles. They will also support the P&L Operations team in dealing with any issues concerning young people. In addition the role will line mange the Participation Co-ordinator and Placements Co-ordinator (until latter transfers to Resourcing team) and be responsible for developing the arrangements for BRC to work within the Government Apprenticeship Levy.
