Self-employed public transport commercial analyst, specialising in management consultancy to local transport authorities and the public transport industry. I am currently assisting a local transport authority with advice on its Bus Service Improvement Plan and Enhanced Partnership, having previously advised seven other authorities about the economic, financial and legislative aspects of their bus strategies. I also provided advice on the bus aspects of the second Strategic Transport Projects Review for Transport Scotland. I completed a four month placement providing commercial analysis assistance to ScotRail, having previously completed a six month placement at Northern Rail as Interim Business Intelligence Manager. I have also carried out two research projects for the DfT, involving examination of the impact on the bus market of the cut in BSOG and identification of economic appraisal valuations for smart and integrated ticketing. I have significant experience of the public transport industry, covering market appraisal, patronage and revenue forecasting, business case development, operational planning, evaluation of commercial strategies and partnership working between bus operators and local transport authorities. I also have a good appreciation of the legislative framework underpinning bus operations in the UK, including the implications of both transport and competition legislation.
