Born in 1963 & educated in Beccles,Suffolk. I was a Cub, Scout & Venture Scout and then an adult leader with the 2nd Beccles Sea Scout group.I started work as an apprentice engineer at a small company called A.G Block Engineering. A year later i moved to a larger engineering company called Europack Engineering and continued with a five year apprenticship in mechanical engineering. Once fully qualified my main role was in the manufacture of shrink wrap packaging machinery. In 1991 i wanted a change in life and following years of volunteer work at Phasels Wood scout camp in Kings Langley Hertfordshire i was approached and asked if i would like a full time career in Scouting. I started work as Deputy Warden and in 1997 a job came up as full time Warden at Tolmers Scout camp in Cuffley Hertfordshire. This was a great challenge, and in the seven years that i was there i built the business from a £45k turnover to £450k turnover in 2005. In 2005 a job came up with The Scout Association and i was appointed Activity Centre Manager at Gilwell Park. This was a fantastic challenge and i was in charge of a small team looking after the camping, indoor accomodations and activity provision along with major annual events that are run at Gilwell Park. In 2007 i played an active part in the World Scout Jamboree which took place in Hylands Park. Chelmsford where over 40,000 young people camped and took part in activities. In 2013 i applied for the role of Centre Manager at Gilwell Park and in April i started in the new role. I am currently in charge of the Activity Centre, Conference Centre & the Estates maintenance team. I currently have a team of 34 full time staff which is further backed up with a volunteer workforce of over 300. I currently look after a budget of around £2.5million income.I am married to Jeanette and we have two children Rhys & Aimee.
