About Andy Marks

Effective visionary leadership to drive a great transformation - a personal statement by Andy Marks. I believe that we are living in the time of a great disruption, a time known as the Anthropocene. Rather than Airbnb or Uber-type market disruption, it is far more important. It is a disruption of the natural systems that create and support life on earth - a great climate and biodiversity disruption with many associated destructive causes and impacts.I believe that a Great Transformation is needed to respond to this great disruption. A transformation of business, consumption, the role of government and our relationship to earth’s natural systems, changing how we take and how we give. I believe that this Great Transformation has started and urgently needs accelerating through more effective visionary leadership. As founder and CEO of several ground-breaking start-ups, an advisor to government on climate, nature and sustainability, an artist decoding our relationship to consumption and the natural world, an expert speaker on accelerating change and a leader helping conferences, media organisations and NGOs increase their impact, I am committed to being part of this Great Transformation. I am committed to using my experience to help people see things afresh and co-create positive, transformational opportunities for society and the planet. I am committed to working with those who share my beliefs and ambitions; together we can facilitate more effective visionary leadership to drive a Great Transformation. A transformation that will replenish the human spirit and see life working with life to further life. I value my independence and the freedom to remain true to these commitments and I also team up with brilliant changemakers including Dr. Glenn Albrecht, Environmental Philosopher, author of Earth Emotions and architect of The Symbiocene and Dr. Kate Wilson, International Adviser on Science, Biodiversity, Climate Change and Sustainability. My approach has four key pillars:Leadership - Supporting leaders as changemakers, helping raise ambition, take bold decisions and resolve complex problemsStrategy - Co-designing high impact strategies, driving both top-down systemic change and bottom-up community-led change Internal culture - Helping build an energised culture of innovation and creativity, empowering people at all levels Operationally - Embedding better ways of working with collaboration best practice, powerful narratives and impactful stakeholder engagement as foundations

Listed skills include Marketing Communications, Creative Direction, Advertising, Entrepreneurship, and 38 others.

Impact Advisor

Abc Tv'S War On Waste

Sydney, Australia

On my recommendation, Impact Design and Production was a first for the ABC to ensure War on Waste created meaningful, measurable viewer driven change in Australia. My work on the War on Waste helped galvanise the ABC and drive an emerging pan-ABC model. Internally, results from the impact strategy included the War on Waste podcast (debuting at No.1 on Itunes), War on Waste: The Survey - the biggest in Australia's history with over 40,000 respondents and many more collaboration firsts within the organisation.Externally, the impact approach focused on driving behaviour change by creating and embedding War on Waste in an external multi-stakeholder Impact Community – aligning 65 leading environmental NGOs, community groups and influencers with the Series and the Pan-ABC effort. The Impact Community delivered the routes to audience participation, creating exponentially greater impact - a model I called Collaboration for Collective Impact.Success has been such that War on Waste has proved the model for the biggest restructure in the ABC's history driven by collaboration and the breaking down of silos. Whilst a second series of War on Waste and a sister Children's' series, Project Planet, were commissioned and the Impact department has grown.
