Well my friend, it was most likely screen printed. The beauty of screen printing is the ability to customize anything from t-shirts, to posters, bumper stickers, to skateboards, or even the insole of your shoe. You will learn how to create an image for screen printing, apply that image to the screen, and make a series of prints. Proper techniques will be addressed throughout the screen making and printing process. You will have the opportunity to experiment with various colors, papers, and other objects. Students are strongly encouraged to bring in random items they may want to print from home.

My knowledge about screen printing technique has been solidified through troubleshooting with customers over the counter and over the phone. The Sweet Hair Poster Show kicked off last summer as 37 Minneapolis based artists came together for the sweetest, hairiest event of the year. All prints were hair-inspired, handmade and created just for the event. Not only were some of Minneapolis’ premier poster artists showcased there, but thanks to Mezzanine Salon, hair was actually cut and styled during the show’s opening reception. Sweet Hair opened at Art Minion Gallery, nestled away in North East Minneapolis overlooking the Mississippi River. DJ Rambo Salinas and DJ Talk Radio spun music all evening. Artwork purchased the night of the show was accompanied with a discount to Frame Ups Custom Framing. A portion of poster sales and ALL pony tails collected for Sweet Hair were donated to Locks of Love.

Red Hot Art operates under the belief that art is for everyone. In 2009 over 100 artists from across the Twin Cities participated at this event held within the Steven's Community. I established an outdoor community workshop called "Printing in the Park" that has run the last three years consecutively. All materials promoting the event were also printed in my studio apartment.
