I am passionate about improving the way that the patients haemodynamics are managed, which when done correctly leads to significantly lower complications and much better outcomes. It has been shown that just one complication caused by poor haemodynamic management during surgery, such as Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) can reduce life expectancy of the patient by 7 yearsI am an adviser to the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Trade & Investment and an MedTech SME representative for the Life Science Export Trade Advisory Group (ETAG).

I originally joined the company in 1989 as an Electronic Engineer working with the R&D team to design the ODM.Over a twenty-five year career with Deltex Medical the company has expanded to reach export markets across the world, establishing offices in USA, Canada and Spain. Deltex Medical currently sells into over 40 countries worldwide either using local partners or by establishing a direct sales team.Deltex Medical’s monitors and probes are manufactured in the UK for export across the world. In March 2011 the CardioQ-ODM was recommended by NICE for use in moderate and high risk surgery and shown to save on average £1,100 per patient. In December 2012, the Department of Health published Innovation Health and Wealth and prioritised ODM as one of the 6 High Impact Innovations (HII) for roll-out across the NHS. Implementing the HII's were a pre-qualification for CQUIN's for 2013/14 and intra-operative fluid management (IOFM) is now part of the standard NHS contract. Deltex Medical have a large team of experienced sales and product specialists in the UK and distribute other innovative and well validated medical technologies through this, such as the Fore-Sight Elite Cerebral Oximeter. In the USA the oesophageal Doppler has a specific national reimbursement code and we currently have over 20 sales and clinical specialists.My responsibilities as Managing Director are focused around the sales and marketing of our products, devising strategies to rapidly increase sales of our current and future products lines across all markets whilst working closely with all of our global Key Opinion Leaders. I also currently sit on the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Trade & Investment and I am Vice Chair of the ABHI International Policy Group (IPG).
