FounderSports Equation, Llc 2007 - 2009Inspired by my daughters while practicing "baseball math", we launched a sports-themed educational start-up to develop and manufacture an innovative program to encourage kids in K-5 to strengthen critical math skills by leveraging their existing passion for sports. Our math cards were officially licensed by Major League Baseball Properties, Inc., and the Major League Baseball Players Association.We engaged kids to learn by challenging them to solve fun, "real world" math word problems with cards featuring their favorite MLB Players, MLB Teams, and actual player stats. With the help of a talented team of educators to create content, we launched our program to the Retail and Educational channels. We also created a highly interactive experiential educational event for kids which debuted at the 2008 MLB All-Star Fanfest in New York. Over 1,000 kids of all ages 'stepped up to the plate' to take the Baseball Math Challenge during this 5-day event. Additional event venues included retail locations in Boston, New York, and in the Philadelphia area. Our Baseball Math Challenge events were featured on Comcast Sportsnet, NESN, and FOX 25 in Boston.
