I am a co-founder of Boulder Treasures, a Boulder, Colorado based nonprofit social enterprise with a mission to imbue adults with developmental disabilities with a sense of purpose, value and participation in our community by creating pathways to secure meaningful employment. Boulder Treasures operates Ramble on Pearl, a retail store as a venue for an apprenticeship program to provide on-the-job training and to demonstrate to local area employers, and the community at large, the capabilities of our apprentices as qualified and reliable employees. Boulder Treasures features the excess inventory of local-area and global manufacturers of active lifestyle clothing and accessories. While some of our product suppliers relate to us on a traditional wholesale basis, our Product Partners have joined our mission by donating product for sale at Ramble on Pearl. Designed as a “boutique style” outlet offering quality products at a great value, our store offers a superior retail experience that is attracting a dedicated customer following. By operating with a minimum overhead and low operating cost, Boulder Treasures seeks to be financially self-sustaining in delivering its mission. Our ultimate goal is to graduate our clients into independent, sustainable and competitive employment in the broader employment market.
