I am a web developer and analyst with a broad experience of working with data, digital media, and online technology.I am currently working for a local authority in an applications analysis and support role - but for 12 years I worked on a contract and freelance basis, and completed one off web development projects, through my company Grit and Oyster Ltd.I have experience managing, editing, writing for, and building websites (and intranets) for charities, public sector bodies, businesses and individuals. This has included project managing website redesigns, designing user interfaces, writing both copy and code, setting up web servers, updating home pages, making online videos, providing training, preparing documentation and tutorials. I have considerable expertise in working with websites built with WordPress, the popular open source content management system. I am highly analytical with an understanding of the role of systems and processes within organisations. I have assessed and specified both organisation and user requirements for software, mapped complicated business processes, and established standards for data and user interface design. I have worked with open data, am an advocate for open source software, and have developed a solid understanding of information governance. I can deal with people at all levels of an organisation, from senior management to those in the back room being able to translate "geek" into "human". Outside of work I have a broad range of interests. I have been an elected local councillor and a political campaigner. I blog (occasionally) about politics, philosophy, history, and other stuff. I am the trustee of a large local arts charity. A victim of various geeky enthusiasms, eclectic conversationalist, an improving home cook, and can mix a mean martini.
