I carried out some test consultancy work for Platform Action in support of their tender for additional work with their client Stanlib in South Africa. My role involved a thorough review of the existing Test Approach.

Ringfencing programme - I successfully led the Finance Testing for both local UAT and cross-programme End-to-End UAT, I defined the overarching Finance Test Strategy and successfully delivered the Finance testing for a number of releases in line with the agreed strategy and approach despite a number of challenges and constraints. The testing was delivered on plan and fed into a positive go-no-go decision for the main implementation. Focus now shifted to the Retail Division changes One Ledger Programme - This was an Interim role providing test consultancy during the Define stage of the programme.

I successfully led the Testing and Delivery of the Costs workstream in line with the Test Strategy I had developed previously. This allowed for the successful implementation of a new in-house reporting solution for Retail Cost Management introducing standardised reports and processes across the Distribution and Product Cost teams.Delivery was Agile following a Scrum framework delivering in Sprints with development, test and the Business SME’s working together.

I was responsible for the Finance local UAT for the Group Systems workstream as well as the Finance elements of the cross-programme End-to-End testing covering Group, Commercial and Retail Finance. I also provided test support for the Commercial Finance Workstream. I defined the Finance test approach for Group systems and E2E testing gaining both senior stakeholder and Accountable Exec approval. Following the completion of the Test Approach, the programme was put on hold.

Successfully delivered the Finance testing for a Finance Simplification Programme to reduce servicing costs for a defined set of Commercial Accounts. Key responsibilities included defining the test approach, testing a set of cloned processes and procedures for hand over to the Retail Division, validating the flow of data into the SAP ledger and the key downstream Finance reporting systems and EUC’s to support Management and Regulatory reporting.

Successfully delivered the Finance testing for the Commercial Banking Verde project. Key responsibilities included defining the test approach, testing a set of cloned processes and procedures for the new Legal Entity, validating the flow of data into the SAP ledger and the key downstream Finance reporting systems and EUC’s to support Management and Regulatory reporting.

Account Test Manager for the FNZ Zurich Corporate WRAP Account with responsibilities for all FNZ testing ahead of code release to the Client. I also provided test support to the Client during their test phases. I successfully delivered the testing for a major enhancement release,

Finance Test manager within the Verde Mortgages project with responsibility for defining the test approach, establishing the test team and initiating the test preparation phase. Key responsibilities included the testing of a set of cloned processes and procedures for hand over to the Verde Mortgage Division, validating the flow of data into the SAP ledger and the key downstream Finance reporting systems and EUC’s to support Management, Statutory and Regulatory reporting.

Successfully delivered the testing for the Wholesale Finance Division within the multi-billion pound Lloyds/HBOS integration programme. Testing covered a number of concurrent projects delivering the new Wholesale Finance Target Operating Model to support Management, Statutory and Regulatory reporting and the migration from ORACLE to SAP.

Test manager for new direct to customer portal connected to back end Elevate WRAP platform via new Enterprise Service Bus (ESB). Responsible for the creation of a new QA and test approach, the Proof of Concept tests driving the infrastructure build and an assessment of SOA test tools. The Project was the first introduction of SOA on site,

Successfully delivered the testing for a new service proposition, the “Elevate” WRAP Platform which was a joint venture between AXA and First New Zealand (FNZ).Initial task was to define the over-arching test strategy and build the enduring test capability to support development and on-going maintenance. Testing was carried out by a core team of 25, with a number of test leads looking after the concurrent streams of testing structured by Business Function. Within each Business Function, testing covered System, Integration, User Acceptance test, NFT and Mode Office.

Test Manager for L&G's WRAP platform. Legal & General were in partnership with Cofunds who administered the L&G WRAP platform. I was responsible for all aspects of testing for the programme. Testing was a joint effort between L&G and Cofunds. The main thrust of the testing was Business Acceptance achieved through a combined UAT/Business Acceptance test exercising core systems and business processes. Test resource was coordinated through Matrix Management of a central pool.

Leading a team of 11, I was responsible for the Business Acceptance testing of the TAI (Tax Advantaged Investments) project within the overall Business Transformation Programme. My responsibilities included all aspects of Business Acceptance Test and User Acceptance Test, production and maintenance of the Test Plan, liaising with business community to define test scope, estimates, test execution, defect Management, regular reports to senior management. Testing was conducted as UAT driven from Business processes.

I was responsible for the testing of the upgrade of NT4 servers to Windows 2003 and the testing of the migration of databases from MS-SQL 7 and earlier to MS-SQL 2000. My responsibilities included the Master Test Plan and Strategy, analysis of applications to determine testing requirements, liaising with business community to define test scope, estimates, detailed test approach documentation for individual migrations, definition of and co-ordination of the test environment requirements, test scripts/scenarios, test execution within the defined schedule and in line with project timescales, defect Management, regular reports to senior management, System Test, OAT and UAT.

Heading a team of 13, I was responsible for the testing of the upgrade of NT4 desktops to Windows XP for the HBoS Financial Services division. As part of the programme team my responsibilities included the identification of all applications to migrate, establish testing standards, test strategy, estimates, detailed test plans and specifications, define and set up of test labs, liaising with business community to define test scope, test scripts in Test Director, test data, test execution within the defined schedule and in line with project timescales, defect management, regular reports to senior management, system integration, user acceptance and server consolidation tests.

Test Manager for the BASEL II Data Warehouse programme. Heading a team of 7, I was responsible for the testing of the data warehouse being developed for the new BASEL II Capital Accord. The warehouse was a collection of MS-SQL 2000 databases fed from a disparate variety of legacy systems. Test Manager for a risk management project. Heading a team of 6, I was responsible for the testing of the debt management system for delinquent mortgage accounts. My responsibilities included establishing testing standards, test strategy, resourcing the test team, conducting detailed reviews of all project documentation, estimates, a detailed test plan, ensuring business requirements and design documents are consistent and unambiguous, setting up the test environments, defect management, change/configuration and implementation/release management, regular reports to senior management, test scripts in Test Director, test data, test execution within the defined schedule and in line with project timescales, system, integration, user acceptance, operational acceptance and performance test.As the project progressed my role evolved to take on some of the responsibilities of the development project manager. This included change management, distribution of work to development staff to ensure speedy and efficient turnaround on defects and the overall implementation plan.

Test Manager for the Huxley Integration Programme I was responsible for the testing of the programme to replace legacy systems with a mix of packaged and in-house solutions to provide an effective and efficient Customer Relationships/Billing system. The main driver for this was the integration of customer data from a number of disparate systems onto the one core platform following various acquisitions. Test Manager for Legacy Electricity Supply systems I was responsible for establishing a Corporate Test Team for existing legacy systems. Test Manager for the De-regulation programme To fulfil its requirements to trade in the de-regulated electricity supply market, Npower were amending legacy applications in order to gain accreditation. My responsibilities across the programme included establishing the test team, test strategy, conducting detailed reviews of all project documentation, estimates, detailed test plans, ensuring business requirements and design documents are consistent and unambiguous, test environments, ensuring all testing is conducted within the defined schedule and in line with project timescales, defect management, release management, regular reports to senior management, liaising with external auditors to achieve compliance and accreditation, test scripts in Test Director, test data, system, integration, user acceptance and external accreditation testing.
