The Director of the Construction Engineering Research Laboratory (CERL) is responsible for the efficient and effective accomplishment of the overall U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) mission as an ERDC Corporate Officer and member of the ERDC Board of Directors as well as the specific mission of CERL. CERL is comprised of a highly interdisciplinary workforce of about 220 Federal employees and 80 contract personnel with an annual operating budget in excess of $80M. The role of the Director includes leadership of basic and applied research, development, and engineering programs related to the building and construction sciences and environmental quality sciences applicable to the acquisition, modernization, operation, maintenance, repair and refurbishment of the Army's physical plant including its training areas. Support activities include the full spectrum of installation support and include both in-house assets and support from academia, industry, and professional organizations.
