This role at Q_Perior gave me the opportunity to expand my knowledge of IFRS 17 and LDTI. Using SAS solution, focus was placed on reviewing and refining out of box (OOB) reports to align with layout and format expected of Canadian regulator. More specifically restructuring reports including liability roll-forward reports, statement of financial positions, statement of profit or loss, investment results & ultimate claims and adjustment expenses. On the business analysis side, the opportunity was presented to build and restructure requirement traceability matrix for a client. Focus was placed on features determination, developing documentation, implementation and testing for IFRS 17 tool.

As an Actuarial Lead, I constructed charitable gift annuities (CGAs) for donors calculating annuity payments and building reserves. Donors were targeted for the non-profit and developing CGAs or direct cash donations. I also assisted with the structure and itinerary of basketball training camps in Africa.

In the realm of recalculations, on the life side, I have worked on UL and IUL products reconciling and recalculating reserves for products with a secondary guarantee as well as DAC EGP recalculations. On the annuity side, I have worked on variable annuity recalculations using the standard scenario. In addition to actuarial audits, I have worked on Advisory projects in both Tax applications as well as data transformation.

At Transcend Robotics, I was part of the early stages of cutting edge robotics technology. The robots have the ability to climb stairs and go through different obstacles. As a lead financial analyst I optimized custom robots using data analysis that increased the effectiveness and versatility of each robot. I also generated valuation reports highlighting substantial growth that were prominent in securing angel investors.

At Plymouth Rock Assurance, I developed the close rates and distributions for all the rating attributes of the personal auto insurance product utilizing SQL and automated Excel spreadsheets. This gave me the opportunity to learn SQL and to become proficient while using every single day, In addition, worked with predictive modelers and used Cluster Analysis to discover rating attributes that contained the lowest variance in close rates within personal auto. Another main project was creating a process to discover which areas had the lowest retention scores and targeted these areas for improvement for personal auto.

As a summer intern, I created the rate indications for 52 countries used to develop Global Rate Adequacy for Auto Lines over the last three years. This helped the Global Consumer Pricing team discover if rates needed to be altered to keep the team profitable. Simultaneously, I helped to pioneer profit scoring methodology and to improve the standardization of Profit Scoring Reports globally; pinpointed profitable lines and segments of business. A template needed to be developed so the scoring reports could be mimicked for other nations. Later on, I led a team of interns to develop the needed premium and rate indications for personal property in the APAC nations and Latin America. The report was summarized to create an easy way to view the rate indications and needed premium for all 11 nations.

I reviewed audit documentation provided by the client and initial findings with actuaries by reconciling disclosure statements. Then coordinated with the First Drafter and Owner in resolving issues found from the initial review of clients’ disclosure reports and financial assumptions reports. The finding support spreadsheets and memos, and a discount rate analyzer was created for over 20 clients. This gave me the opportunity to have constant communication with clients and best solve their problems.

As a member of the BOLD Internship program, I was an intern in the Google Enterprise, their apps for business. I assisted the Enterprise Team to drastically decrease the number of cases by 30.31% in the ‘Contact Us Form’ by improving links for the Google Apps.
