My role in this position was to deliver an educational campaign about Fair-trade (a system of trade that includes a guaranteed fair rate for producers in developing countries). My work involved businesses, trade unions, the media and consumers to increase understanding of the issues as well as supply and demand in the area of Mid-Wales. As well as being an executive member of UNESCO, Cyfanfyd, Wales Fair Trade Forum, Greener Homes and Buildings and the Corporate Responsibility Network Wales.Responsibilities: Delivering workshops, press statements, press releases, designing and publishing communication pieces (including assisting in the production of a documentary) and a trade directory, working with setting up and directing local campaign groups, touring producers from developing countries to public events, advising businesses, editing and publishing an online e-newsletter, working with government and NGOs like Oxfam and Christian Aid, attending meetings and public speaking.

Communication Systems Operators ensure commanders can communicate with their units using satellite terminals, radios, hand held and desk-top data terminals and security equipment. Whatever the location, deployment or task, Communication Systems Operators provide the appropriate communications systems for the Army whether it is on land, in the air or at sea.During this period of my career, I had operated all over Australia (Pilbara, Northern Territory, Queensland, Victoria, New South Wales), operating in a number of punishing environments. I first spent over 6 months, learning 18 hours a day my craft and training included radio wave science and theory, antenna placement, cryptography, radio procedures, morse code and many other elements of radio work. I was then part of a helicopter unit, conducted signals in jungle, desert and remote environments, was later deployed to a para-mechanised unit and spent a lot of time in the retransmission unit (a unit who would spend a lot of time in isolated areas and mountainous and hill top terrain). All my roles during my time in the military, were front line roles.
